Hair

APRIL 2011

BRILLIANT ARTS and ENTERTAINMENT

It’s April! The sights and sounds of spring are finally upon us. I, for one, could not be happier. It was a brutal winter. Coming from Canada, this winter was a reminder of all frigid things past. I guess that is why I have a special affinity for lilacs, daffodils and spring.

For the one or two people in the world whom that I did not tell, I was a musical theatre actress in Montreal many moons ago where I had the lead in “Plain and Fancy.” My musical director…the fabulous Galt McDermott. I wonder whether that time was as memorable for the composer of Hair, Galt McDermott as it was for me. Check out this iconic musical coming to Boston this April as well as the other hot suggestions.

BUZZ: The Public Theater’s new Tony-winning production of HAIR is the most electric celebration on Broadway! This exuberant musical about a group of young Americans searching for peace and love in a turbulent time has struck a resonant chord with audiences young and old. HAIR features an extraordinary cast and dozens of unforgettable songs, including “Aquarius,” “Let the Sun Shine In,” “Good Morning, Starshine” and “Easy To Be Hard.” Its relevance is UNDENIABLE. Its energy is UNBRIDLED. Its truth is UNWAVERING. It’s HAIR, and IT’S TIME. While many find this show suitable for young adults (13 and older), parental discretion is advised. There is a dimly lit 20-second scene with nudity that is non-sexual in nature.
